For the first time Roffey FC will have a dedicated development team during the 2019/20 season. Jointly managed by James Gregory and Tommy Leedham the development team will complete in the Mid Sussex Championship.
After a turbulent 2018/19 season, which saw a number of “reserve team” players promoted to the first team squad, to help in our historic push to senior football. A decision to carry this model into the 2019/20 season was made.
This year’s team will consist of some of our most talented senior players from previous seasons. Some of our most exciting youth players from the past two seasons. As well as new faces to the club this year. All eager to make an impression and compete for honours.
As the season unfolds we will be aiming high, and looking to maximise a squad full of talent. We will be developing an identity and brand of football unique to Roffey FC. One capable of challenging in both the league and the cup. Whilst offering a pathway into senior football and hopeful successes with the first team.
If you would like to be involved and believe you can add to our team we would love to hear from you!
Roffey Reserves/Development Joint Manager James Gregory has been with the club for 7 years. James was a player in the 2012-13 & 2013-14 seasons winning the division 10 title in the 2013-14 season. From 2017 onwards James has been the joint manager of Roffey Reserves.
This season sees James take on a joint manager role with ex under 19’s coach Thomas Leedham in the new look development/Reserves squad.

Having previously coached and managed both U18’s and U19’s teams at Roffey over the past two seasons. I am incredibly excited to be stepping into the new look development set up for the 2019/20 season. By doing so I have been able to promote some of our most exciting youth players into the squad, whilst challenging myself by coaching senior players for the first time.
My philosophy (whilst developing all the time) centres on playing attractive fast paced football. Developing both players individually and as a team to be comfortable in possession of the ball, building play through the pitch & being calm and composed in front of goal.
Having implemented this, over the past two seasons my teams have ended each season with unbeaten runs of 8 and 10 games respectively. Finishing 4th last season narrowly missing out on a championship challenge whilst reaching the cup semi-finals.
My goals alongside James’ for the season are:
To cement my philosophy into the team as a foundation to challenge in every game.
Coach the ability to play an attractive, possession based brand of football.
Promote an ethos of “Win, Lose, Learn Together” ensuring a unique team spirit and environment to develop and play.
Challenge players to develop and earn opportunities in the first team.
