EMPHATIC WIN IN SCFA SENIOR CUP FOR 1ST TEAM

On a very wet night at Horsham YMCA we find ourselves playing in the SCFA Senior Cup for the first time in our history, against local rivals Billingshurst, bizarrely the opposition chose to kick off with 8 players, even though they had 3 players on the bench!

Whilst the late Billingshurst players were on their way Roffey looked to take advantage, and scored after 6 minutes when Sam Shoubridge cut in from the right and curled a left foot shot in the bottom corner.

Billingshurst were now up to a full complement, and on his full debut a good cross from the left saw Pat O’Sullivan head skillfully

over the advancing keeper for 2-0

The very sharp looking Ben Chowney excellent run saw his original effort saved but was alert to the rebound to make it 3-0

Then a good shot from the hard working and skillful Chadwick hit the bar and there was O’Sullivan the poacher to knock home from close range for 4-0

Half-time saw Roffey 4-0 up and there looked no way back for the away team.

It took until the 62 nd minute for the flood-gates to finally open and a good move saw Jordan Stallibrass tap in, reward for how hard he has worked in the last two games.

A top quality bench, saw the home team make some changes, with Chris Neatherway and then Christian Stevens coming on, to torment the away defence some more, Billingshurst tired, and without a shot on target all game, allowed the home team 3 more goals, all from Pat O’Sullivan making his haul 5 from the night.

A good performance all round the pitch, and the players appreciated the home support turning out on an appalling night, we await the draw for round two with anticipation.

BBC Radio Sussex also saw our result on the night and held a short interview with joint Manager Andy Lampard which you can listen too here - https://twitter.com/BBCSussexSport/status/1179148248679944193
