(3) ROFFEY U17s vs MONTPELIER VILLA U17s (1) WIN AWAY 06/12/20

The first game back after lockdown was played on a cold but dry day at the fantastic Brighton University grounds at Falmer v Montpelier Villa. Warming up in new training tops the buzz of a match to be played was in the sea air. Wearing the red away kit Roffey started very brightly moving the ball around on the flat surface with control and scored a lovely team goal involving Tom/Morgan/Dylan and scored by Will H. More chances came for Roffey and an odd one for MV with the team holding a great shape and the midfield of Jonny/Henry (the hoover) and Tom controlling much of the play with Tom showing many more skills than his dad ever had! (The manager) half time was 1-0.

MV came on strong second half and performed well and and were a credit to their management team as they had some great chances but the defensive trio of Alessio/Ethan and Charlie (ably replaced by Hayden and Scott in second half) with great coverage from the wing backs (George/Morgan/Alex/Will S) were strong and Dylan “the cat” Bond in goal pulled off some brilliant saves! Our second goal came from a beautiful free kick from Tom on the left hand side that Jonny got on the end of with a well timed run and a great finish to be 2-0. MV scored a well executed finish for long range after a defensive clearance went to one of the players, game on! At that point the next goal really was going to be crucial, Ben had come on and was linking well done the left and then central midfield and as the ball dropped to the edge of the box Alex volleyed the ball from 18 yards powerfully into the net! All 16 players played football and then dug in and battled second half while still creating some chances, there were a few scary moments but we came out on top and deserved to win a good game of football, great to start back with a win with the biggest round of applause going to Hayden who played 20 mins after being out of the side for 12 weeks with a knee injury!
